How to Pick a Baby Name: 5 Essential Tips
While I might not be having baby number two yet, I still love thinking about that day. Naming a baby is such a privilege and an important responsibility. I mean, this is the name they will be called by for the rest of their lifr! It’s important!
If you’re struggling to pick a baby name, here are my five tips to coming to the right name for your little babe:
Don’t go with the pack. My name is Destiney, so naturally, I like names that are a little different and unique. I like strong names that are less common. It doesn’t need to be crazy to stand out.
Draw inspiration from family members you’ve admired, or people who have had an impact in your life. Names will change in popularity, but something that means something to you will always stay relevant.
Wait to meet your babe. I know this isn’t the popular opinion, but I waited until I met H to name her Honor. I wanted to see her face and know without a doubt this is who she was. I think it worked out pretty well for us.
Say the name out loud. This might sound silly, but it works. Can you see yourself calling this name across the house. Can you say this name over and over without getting sick of it? The right one will feel right when you say it.
Think long term. Will the name you’re thinking of work for the future president of the United States or CEO? Give your babe a name that they can take places!
