I haven’t always understood what it took to maintain a true friendship. I would make friends and then cross my fingers and hope everything worked out. Sometimes, things would go great and the friendship would be healthy. Other times, the friendship would have so many ups and downs that I would have to get off the ride.
Now, as I get older, I am understanding how to be a good friend. It’s so important to be a friend first. So, this is not about whether someone else is being a great friend. It’s about me and how great of a friend I’m choosing to be.

5. Show compassion.
6. Give him/her space.

8. Protect their privacy.
9. Laugh with them.

12. Sit in silence with them more.
13. Dance with them when they are feeling down.
14. Forget what they say during vent sessions.
