Have you ever had someone ask you where your people are from?
Disclosure: This post is a collaboration with Ancestry. I received compensation, but all opinions are my own.
Have you ever had someone ask you where your people are from? Well, I sure have. Curly hair and my skin pigmentation can lead people to ask me about my heritage and my family history.
Up until lately, I wasn't really sure how to answer the questions about my family history.
Well now I know!
I explored my unique traits by using a little spit to get my AncestryDNA Traits results. AncestryDNA Traits is a fun and easy way to discover the traits and attributes that your DNA influences that you’ve inherited from your ancestors, share with family and may pass down to future generations. AncestryDNA Traits allowed me to learn more about my family while giving me some fun information about my unique features like my Iris pattern, hair type, and hair color. I love learning about my family and where we're from. It really helps when I'm deciding on the trips I want to take and how I want to teach my daughter about our family. The best thing about Ancestry is being able to travel based off of your family history and where you’re from! This holiday season they are rolling out some bright and cheery deals! Their DNA kits are available for only $49 now until Cyber Monday! New customers can upgrade their kit to include Traits for an additional $10 on Amazon and Ancestry.com and existing customers can purchase the Traits feature through their Ancestry account (also for $10).
I'm sure you're wondering how I feel about the process for submitting my DNA through AncestryDNA. I thought the instructions were pretty simple to understand and the process was super easy to complete. Ancestry vowed to protect my privacy and through the new AncestryDNA Traits feature, provided me info on 18 different traits to help me learn more about how my DNA can make an impact on my look today. It's really cool how it all works!
So, why did I do this AncestryDNA Traits test?
1. I want to be able to share all of this exciting information with my daughter.
2. It's super cool to learn why my fingers might be long and where my curly hair came from.
3. I gain confidence from knowing where my ancestors are from and how I connect to them.
4. I really want everyone to experience the journey to finding their unique family information.
Tell me just a little about why you’re interested in learning more about your DNA or family history in the comments section. I'll choose 2 lucky winners by November 23.
