Summer Fitness and Self Care
It's no secret that Utah winters can be brutally cold and wet, which leaves most of our physical activity forced to be indoors. As much as I love my gym, I crave the sunshine and the fresh air to reset my mind and spirit; so as soon as summer comes along I search for anyway to do my summer fitness routine outside!
For the last couple years I've been daydreaming about getting a Madsen Cycles bike because they are no joke, the coolest cycles around. Each summer I think to myself, this is the year, and then I always put it off. But not this year. This year I invested in a great summer activity for Honor and I and we have been wheeling around non-stop since we got it.
I'm really excited about our new bike for several reasons; first, because I always try to promote healthy living, especially summer fitness right now, for Honor. Second, I truly love biking. It's one of my favorite ways to break a sweat. Thirdly, and don't judge me, but this thang is so dang cute for photos. Alright you know I have to keep it real with you and I love a good IG photo op.
But more importantly, cycling has so many proven benefits and should be part of your summer fitness. It reduces stress, and the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure. It increases muscle tones and strengths your lungs and heart. Did you know that with only 45 minutes of cycling your body actually releases endorphin's and serotonin and it makes you HAPPY!? Dude, sign me up every day of the week and twice on Tuesday! I'm about that life!
Another way I get out in nature and improve my summer fitness is to visit Conestoga Ranch as many times throughout the season as I can. This place is my absolute favorite retreat in Utah because I'm able to cater to my mind, body and soul. If you've been following my blog for awhile, you might remember me writing about them last year as well.
If you missed it, check out my last blog post to see all of their amenities >HERE< !
In my last post I talked all about the glamping at Conestoga Ranch, and while that's still one of my favorite parts, there's so much more to this place. It's so incredibly peaceful and serene. When I come out here, without fail, I'm able to reset, refocus, and come back to work with a greater sense of motivation and vision. There's something incredibly powerful about giving yourself the opportunity to self-care and doing so outside of your normal environment.
When we come to Conestoga Ranch we love to do yoga in the fresh air, we ride bikes, we hike trails, and we play games. Most of all, we spend time with each other outside of normal day to day distractions. Honor and I love to come here with our family or friends and just make a weekend of it; but if I don't have a full weekend to give, I'll make the drive for even one night. It's so worth it for the restorative peace that comes with this place.
