Using Uber: Navigating My Crazy Schedule with Uber
Reason 572 I love Uber: The convenience.
If there’s anything you know about me, it’s most likely that I’m a woman on the go. From city to city, meeting to meeting, my days are long and my time is limited. When I say to you that Uber is my BFF, I mean it, because I use the Uber app more than I text my actual BFF. Sorry, Jessica, miss you! In all reality, my love affair with uberX started a while back when I was having car issues and I had to put my car in the shop. I had used it when traveling previously, but I never had a need for it at home. I quickly realized what an asset Uber was for me in my day to day life, and actually prefer that now to driving my own vehicle.
I literally use Uber for everything now. I figured I would do you all a solid and share with you my top four ways I save time and energy by using Uber. Hint I always get asked how I have time to do so much… Uber is one of those ways.
Four Ways I Uber
While at home in Salt Lake City, I host a lot of events for my business Majoring in Motherhood. These events are hosted for usually 5-20 members, and I speak about how they can grow their businesses and blogs. Taking uberX not only ensures that I make it to my events on time, but it gives me time to go over my briefs for my discussion topic while still getting their safely. It gives me that extra 20-30 minutes I need to prepare, which is so crucial in my hectic schedule. And bonus: no parking fees.
I recently I went on a sponsored trip and the city gave us access to their Uber business account. Before the days of Uber I would have been so nerve wracked trying to find my way around the city in a rental car, but now I trust I’ll get to my events on time and I can track the whole trip while still taking in the sights of each new city. And bonus: no city parking fees.
Honor’s dad tells me all the time that he doesn’t understand how I can always get lost in a city I’ve grown up in my whole life. True Story. I still don’t know either. We can’t be great at everything right? I never want to show up late for my meetings and look unprofessional though, so Uber ensures that I make it there on time, without getting lost, and I even have extra time to prep or get other work done in the car. I only go to my meetings this way now.
When I am home and have an evening to catch my breath, Jessica and I make a point to have a girl’s night away from the kids once a month. uberX makes it easy for us to enjoy a glass of wine or two, without driving afterwards, and they even have a split fare option through the app so we don’t have the awkward “who is going to pay” moment.
Whether I’m in my own city using Uber to head out to a fancy dinner with Jessica or go to events; when I’m jumping from meeting to meeting and I need to prep in the car on the way, and especially when I’m constantly in a new city I don’t know how to navigate, Uber is my life saver.
