Monday's Mom Crush: Morgan || Shop Buru
I recently had the chance to visit my friend, Morgan, at her home. She was gracious enough to give Honor and I a tour and host us for lunch. Her house is ah-maz-ing; but I'd expect nothing less of this flawless lady. One of the things I love most about Morgan is that while she's got amazing style and is so unique - she also is so down to earth and just a super cool chick.
If you don't know, Morgan is the powerhouse babe and mama behind Shop Buru. She created her shop Buru after becoming frustrated with the lack of stylish nursing wear and the time drain of finding workable ready-to-wear. Buru is an online destination that stocks high fashion designer wares hand-selected for motherhood.
Her line focuses on versatility and washability. From carpool to cocktails, Morgan's mission is to help every mama look and feel her best during this special phase of life. The garments she stocks—from the BURU White Label to designer labels, are hand-picked for their ability to withstand the demands of motherhood, without sacrificing style.
Check out my interview with Morgan here:
If you had to describe yourself as a mother, what would you say?
Surprisingly enough (even to myself—an only child) the first word that comes to mind is: relaxed. I am much less rigid than I thought I would be. I believe in moderation, singing loudly, showing our children the world, hugging constantly, surrounding them with art and laughing as much as possible!
What is the funniest thing your child has said or done?
Last week I asked Olive, our 4-year old to help me take off my boots. She replied (with a large sigh), "How embarrassing—removing another woman's shoes." I thought it was hilarious that she referred to me as another woman! But honestly, all her "adult-like" comments crack me up!
Let’s get honest for a minute. Motherhood can be HARD. What is the one thing about motherhood you would change if you could?
Easy. If I could change anything it would be to breed SLEEPERS! I swear our children hate to sleep. Bedtime and now naptime with our new baby are constant battles. It causes so much anxiety in the house which I know doesn't help at all! We've tried so many things—but the truth is our life is not that "routine" so it's every bit as much our fault. But still—what I wouldn't give for our children to just once say, "Mommy/Daddy, I'm tired, I think I will take a nap!"
What do you feel is the most important lesson you can teach your children?
To love and support others. This pretty much covers it all. If you love, you don't judge. If you love, you are polite. If you love, you treat others as you want to be treated. If you love, you make others feel good about themselves. If you love (loving one's self included), you are a happy, well-rounded person.
What is a goal you want to achieve in the next 10 years?
Great question. Sharing a business goal...In 10 years, I hope to have expanded the BURU White Label Collection into more categories to help more mamas elevate their mom style in a fun and affordable way. I also want that to include a line of tween styles that our daughter, Olive will help design to bring confidence through style to young girls in an age appropriate way.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who build up other people—specifically women who are hustling everyday to make their dreams come true all while juggling the crazy world of motherhood while cheering on everyone around them.
