Glamping at Conestoga Ranch
Let me tell you guys a little secret. Camping is overrated… GLAMPING on the other hand, is right up my alley. You guys. You have to go glamping. I'm a changed woman. But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you how this epiphany started.
Like all good things, it started with my daughter H, and a promise I made to her before the snow had even melted off the grass. H loves the outdoors, and while snow won’t stop her from getting out there and having fun, we have to limit the amount of time outside for obvious reasons. So one of the ways we made it through this Utah winter, was by me making endless promises ofsun-filled days camping this summer. Well, let me tell you, summer almost came and went without me making good on this promise.
Oh don’t you worry though, who do you think I’m talking about here? H was not about to let me forget my promise, and I love her for that. She has standards, and by God, I’m not going to be the one to tell her she shouldn’t. So a promise was made, and a promise needed to be kept. Camping we would go… but I just wasn’t sure where. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to the outdoors, and I have had my fair share of good times camping. But y’all, I didn’t know what I was missing out on, and now that I know… I’m never going back.
GLAMPING. That’s right I said it. I came across this amazing place nestled next to Bear Lake, called Conestoga Ranch. Being the busy mama that I am though, I was running out of time to get H and I up there before summer came crashing to a halt. Looking at the photos of this ranch I thought it surely had to be booked out through the season, but I crossed my fingers anyway and sent a desperate plea to get a reservation.
Let me tell you, if Conestoga Ranch weren’t one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, I’d still go there anyway just for the staff. They immediately responded to me and were so helpful! They answered all of my questions and helped me get a reservation not just for H and I, but for a couple of our friends to come join us in the fun! Because what’s better than glamping, but glamping with your best girl friends? I can actually answer that. Glamping with your best girlfriends, and eating smores with a fire valet. Yes, this happened. (What’s a fire valet you ask? It’s when someone comes and lights your fire for you! Yes this exists, and no I never want to light my own fire ever again.)
When we arrived, the staff welcomed us and were just as friendly as they had been over email. I can’t say enough good things about the people that run this ranch. Truly, good vibes all over the place. They had so many activities available that appealed to H’s adventurous spirit. This kid is one I can hardly keep up with on most days, but between the playground, the ping-pong table, the activity tent, and all of the other activities she indulged in, by the time it was dark enough for a campfire and smores, she was almost too tired to partake in the most traditional camping tradition of all. I said almost. She woke herself up like any decent camper would do.
And here comes my favorite part, after sitting around and talking to my girlfriends about a new business adventure, I was able to walk into my tent (that I didn’t have to set up or break down later), wash my face at a real sink with running water, and crawl into a real bed that wouldn’t deflate half way through the night. I woke up so relaxed and I knew that this wasn’t a normal camping trip. No cricks in my neck or sore back. No bugs to swat away from my face. No morning breath, because again… running water. This is my kind of place.
Conestoga Ranch was the breath of fresh air I needed. While I hadn’t had plans to go back until the spring with my new company, Travel is the New Play Date; I can’t wait. Literally. I’ve already booked another night up here before they close for the winter. I’d highly recommend you do the same. There are few places I could imagine that gives something the immense peace that comes with being surrounded by so much natural beauty, while still allowing for some luxury within nature. Conestoga Ranch, you have made a forever glamper out of me… and I know a new tradition that H won’t have to beg me for again next year.
If you want to check out all of the amazing amenities Conestoga Ranch has to offer, check out http://conestogaranch.com/ and stay tuned for my family trip coming up in a couple of weeks. I didn’t get to capture all of the cool things they have to offer this past trip, because well, I was in awe. But you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be taking more photos this next time around!
Until next time, babes!
