My Wish for You
As New Years is quickly approaching, I’ve started reflecting on the past year. I would have to say 2016 has probably the best year of my life, besides 2012 when I welcomed my sweet H into the world. I cried when 2016 came in and I'll probably cry as it leaves. I read this statistic earlier, “60 percent of millennials say parenting is extremely important to their identity.” THIS. So much of this. As I’ve grown as a mother, I feel like I’ve become a better version of myself. And my focus on the future is for her. She’s everything, and 2017 is looking like the best year yet with her by my side.
These are my wishes for my daughter and her future.
My wish for you, sweet H, is that you never be moved by someone else's ignorance, instead spread love and not hate. If you fall down three times, you get up six. I hope you hear my voice when I'm not with you, reminding you to keep going and to never settle for anything less than you deserve. My wish is that you pick your friends, like you pick your fruits. If someone calls you a name outside of the name I have given to you; my wish for you is to stand tall, arch your back, and remind them of who you are. And I hope you remember that on the days you don’t feel strong enough to remind them, I will remind them for you.
My wish for you, sweet H, is for you to always remember who you are, and to make no apologies for that. That you question everything and that you work hard for your dreams. That you work at pleasing you, because you can't please anyone else. My wish for you, is to know that your words hold weight and only use them to build up and not tear down. May you never let anyone or any circumstance define you, tell you what “you’re not” or knock you down. If you don’t see the door open for you, you build it and then build it again. My wish for you, is that you keep your gentle spirit and stand up for anybody when injustice whispers; red, white, yellow, purple, black or blue.
My wish for you, sweet H, is that you recognize that your eyes carry countries, and that you travel to the motherland to see that for yourself; to get in touch with you roots and to grow from them. You inherited your ancestor’s souls and smiles and so I wish for you to enjoy your freedom and live boldly. Remember, it's the more you know. You see baby girl, this world is often unkind, and disloyal, but I will tell you something, what's for you will always be for you and nobody can't take that away from you. So my wish for you is to not only see the light, but to be the light and keep on shining through the darkness. This world will try to take that light from you, but when you got magic inside of you, nobody can throw you shade.
My wish for you, sweet H, is that each morning when you open your eyes, you continue to yell good morning to the universe and never change that. Remember to thank the sun for rising, thank the universe for always listening and praise the higher power. With each new day is a possibility to evolve and manifest new opportunities. Be a blessing to catch a blessing. My wish for you is to understand, that nobody makes it on their own. True sisterhood always wins and then it wins again.
My wish for us, my sweet H, is that no matter what, that we strive for a healthy mother/daughter bond. And that no matter how old you get you, you know you can come to me with life’s struggles and joys. May you be able to ask or tell me anything, and I listen without getting upset.
What I know about you, my sweet H, is that you are powerful. You are smart. You are a young queen. We want it all and half was never, ever the agreement. So when I say this, I say it with my everything; the odds may be against you, darling, but baby, that is your magic. You will have to work 10 times harder, but that's nothing to a Queen. When something moves inside of you, listen, follow your heart and know that wherever you go, I’m there with you, with my wish for you. I see you forming and I see the light around you. Stay golden princess. #raisingH
